4READ REVIEW IF HAVING TROUBLE WITH INITIAL SETUP
    By Jonathan H.
I will update the review at a later time, but I felt the need to write up a review and possibly help others get their NAS326 set up.

IF YOU CAN'T GET YOURS SET UP USING FINDME.ZYXEL OR NAS STARTER UTILITY, RESET THE DEVICE BY HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON IN FOR FOR *ATLEAST 2 BEEPS*. THE DEVICE WILL RESET AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO THE INITIAL CONFIG USING THE NAS STARTER UTILITY ON ZYXEL'S WEBSITE.

I previously had a Lenovo ix2-dl that I used mainly to backup my hypervisor's virtual machines. It stopped working after a little over a year and never really had great throughput or speed. I ordered this because of the price, not needing any of the special features consumer NASes come with today. After I received this I planned to hook it up quickly, plug in my external ssd drive to one of the usb 3.0 ports on the back, and set it up remotely, as I had to leave in a hurry. After plugging it up I looked at the instruction tried using the findme wizard, didn't work. I then tried using NAS Starter Utility, didn't work. I also tried getting to the web interface, didn't work. I had the IP address (192.168.1.5), could ping, but nothing would connect. I spent 4+ hours trying to get this thing to work. I hooked it up to another router, power offs/reboots, w/wo hard drives installed. Nothing worked. There is very little documentation on this thing so google was no help. I ended up reading user manuals for the older 325v2, which point to using the NAS starter utility, which wasn't working correctly. I would receive a config failed error whenever I tried to use the app. So I decided to try resetting it one more time, this time looking it up to see the exact process to reset it. Hold button for 1 beep resets the *password*, holding the reset button for 2 or more beeps resets all device settings!!! After the device rebooted I had a real IP address from my DHCP pool and could connect fine. Zyxel needs to work on documentation before releasing a product.

    3Good Device, but Firmware Issues
    By Stevie
I had this for a month before a system-prompted firmware update (5.2) caused the unit to hang, and even after powering off and performing several factory resets, I could not get the WebGUI to display or upload files. I formatted my drives (took them out and put them in a USB enclosure), and while Zyxel's "findme" app (and the starter utility) did find the drive, it would not allow me to initialize the drives. I contacted Zyxel support, and to their credit, they were very quick with email correspondence. They tried via phone to help me reset the unit, to no avail. A shame, because this really is a great value in an NAS, and for the nearly a month that I used it, it was quick and responsive, and it has great specs for the money. The case is larger than the ones from its direct competitors, which is bad from a space standpoint but good from an airflow standpoint - drive temps in this were consistently cooler than in my QNAPs or WD EX2. Also, it definitely the best performance to cost ratio I have seen out there. I am returning the unit to Amazon for a refund/credit - I asked for a replacement, but they're no longer in stock.

5Its a Great Buy for The Money
    By nathan goldstein
I purchased this NAS so that i could run a Media Server in my home as well as have a Time Machine Backup for My Mac.

    Pros:
+ Quick and easy to set up, just plug in your drives and run through the Wizard
+ Allows for Easy Time Machine Backups, Mac OS recognizes the External or NAS drives
+ Very Quick little Server, Transferring files if fairly Quick
+ Price was right on Point

    Cons:
+ Cant Get the ZyXel Cloud to Work
+ Cant Figure out the ZyXel App for the iPhone (won't work for me)
+ Web interface is a little outdated looking Picture windows 95

Overall, I am happy with the purchase, this little NAS does everything I need it to do and its a great buy for the $$

Note: THIS DOES NOT COME WITH HARD DRIVES, YOU MUST PURCHASE DRIVES SEPARATELY
